Speaking, Training & Workshop Overview

Intentional Coaching + Consulting offers a variety of speaking, training, and workshop topics that can be customized to your team, organization, or community’s needs.

We guide organizations from the inside out using the GetReal Leadership Model© as a framework. This model understands that it all starts with the individuals on the team. From individuals, to teams, leaders, and the organization itself we focus on the driving forces—The Thing Behind The Thing—that keeps organizations from achieving their best results. Working from the inside out, is the best way to achieve the full-scale success. And that success has trademark qualities. Below is a visual of the customizable and comprehensive model:

Here are our specific training, workshop and speaking summaries, each of which are customized to your team, organization or community’s needs:

What is a Team and What Makes a Great Team?
We spend every day engaged as a part of a team yet we don’t spend enough time understanding what a team is and what makes it great. Explore what makes a great team and what areas your team is knocking it out of the park as well as the characteristics of a team that would be game-changing, should your team focus on and master them.

Gain clarity on your personal values and how they align with your organization’s values. Gain clarity on the behaviors that support living into values and how to be a values-based leader.

Creating a Culture of Trust
Trust is a BIG important word that is the foundation of effective teams and relationships yet we don’t spend enough time really understanding what it means and how it works. Together, we will explore the anatomy of trust so you can understand how to build it better and how to communicate about it more effectively if it’s broken.

Creating a Culture of Feedback

Explore the mindset and skillsets needed to develop a culture of feedback within your organization. If you are like most leaders, the idea of giving and receiving feedback seems scary and includes having a difficult conversation–one we tend to avoid hoping the situation will go away. It doesn’t have to be that way! Together we will build our skills and capacity for these conversations while working with real examples pertinent to your role. Prepare to explore new ways to think about these interactions, learn a simple method to plan and exchange feedback and have important conversations with your leaders and teams, and have plenty of time to practice and reflect.

Creating a Culture of Coaching (Recommended to be a half day/full day/multiple sessions)
When we utilize coaching skills in the workplace, we empower our teams to create sustainable and lasting change. We allow them to self-discover the answers. In this session, you will learn the difference between management and coaching, when to utilize each and how to integrate the two. You will also learn four powerful coaching skills and four coaching questions that can be used to coach anyone in most workplace situations.

Creating a Culture of Well-being (Recommended to be a half day/full day/multiple sessions)
Explore what’s needed to create a culture of well-being in our nonprofit organizations. Looking at organizational culture and well-being as “soft” or “nice to have” is an old way of thinking. Research shows us that focusing on well-being in the workplace is an essential strategy for sustainable results. Current and prospective employees are beginning to place as much emphasis on culture and well-being as they are on job responsibilities and salary. It is becoming essential to attract top talent and it fosters high performance and results. Together, we will explore two frameworks for activating a culture of well-being by looking first at organizational well-being, and second, at the well-being of our people. Prepare to explore new ways to think about these topics, the dangers of not tending to them as well as practical, tactical, and actionable strategies to implement within your organization.

Using the Enneagram to Discover You
The Enneagram is a map for self-discovery and personal growth based on 9 basic personality types. The Enneagram accurately and clearly describes why you think, feel and behave in particular ways based upon your core fears and core desires.  The power of the Enneagram is in its ability to harness and transform self-limiting behaviors into life-enhancing personal empowerment. The gift of the Enneagram is that through self-discovery, one can create and sustain meaningful and lasting relationships with others, and themselves.

Shifting from The Drama Triangle to The Empowerment Dynamic
Understand three roles of unhealthy and unproductive relationships that nearly all of us engage in until we know better. Learn about the three unhealthy roles of the Drama Triangle and how to shift to the Empowerment Dynamic. The Drama Triangle is harmful because it creates conflict between the people in the relationship and prevents either of them from solving the problem at hand. The Empowerment dynamic is healthy, empowering and solves problems and less stress and more effectiveness.

Change Management
Our “new normal” isn’t so new and still doesn’t feel normal. Many non-profit leaders are working in overdrive to find the best path forward. Change is hard. And we have all experienced more than our fair share of change this year. With everyone responding to change differently, being a leader can be confusing and difficult. Join together with peers and other leaders for discussion and learning around The Cycle of Change, which is the most effective and simple model for leading ourselves and others through uncertain times. On the surface, it’s about assessing and pivoting, yet it’s really about helping people through the emotions of change and the change cycle. Everyone is always in some part of this cycle and we can be in differing phases for differing situations simultaneously.  This session can be customized or expanded to include the Change Style Indicator, a self-assessment designed to help participants identify their change style and how it intersects with other people’s styles.

Leadership in Times of Stress: Self-Leadership (Can be a series or stand-alone)

Join together with peers for an interactive and engaging discussion about where we are spending our time and energy during this rapidly changing time and how to increase clarity and focus on what matters most.

  • What’s been the impact of recent stressors on each of us?
  • What’s happening in our brains as a result of change and stress and what makes sense about how we’ve been feeling about ourselves as leaders
  • What is causing you the most stress and how to prioritize what matters while releasing some of those stressors

What People Say About Us

Leadership summits/training have been very beneficial to be able to meet as a group, strategize, learn and hear my colleagues personal experiences. So many times I heard others experiencing similar happenings as myself, and it was validating to know others are in the same boat – and also energizing to be able to work as a group to overcome or learn how to handle when going through the same struggles.

Shannon Duggan

Vice President of Administration, Tangram

After more than a year of COVID, it was such a pleasure to reconnect as team using Erin’s coaching and facilitation skills. We were able to connect, dive into each other’s personality styles, learn how to better communicate with each other, which was needed after a year of remote working!

Paige Wilkins

Executive Director, Healthier Moms and Babies

Erin Slater of Intentional coaching + consulting spoke to our team at College Mentors for Kids recently during a staff retreat. We asked Erin to talk about how best to manage stress in times of uncertainty, certainly a hot topic right now. She did a great job intentionally walking the team through a process to identify what is in their control and the connection between thoughts, behaviors and feelings. The interactive session helped us all understand how we process and manage stress. I felt encouraged and uplifted at the end of the session and ready to tackle the stress that naturally occurs in both our personal and professional lives.”
